About ten days ago, Microsoft released the preview version of its new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge to Windows 10 users. The new Chromium-based Edge was initially available only to users running Windows 10 64-bit. That is, the Edge was not available for 32-bit Windows 10.
Up until now, if you tried to install Edge on a 32-bit Windows 10 installation, the installer showed Error 3 or 0x80040154, or “We can’t install Microsoft Edge on this version of Windows” error. Because of this, many PC users were not able to try out the new Chromium-based Edge browser.
Install Edge on Windows 10 32-bit
Today, Microsoft updated the Edge Canary to version 75 and the newest version supports 32-bit Windows 10 as well. PC users running 32-bit type of Windows 10 can now download and install the Edge to try out the new browser.
Download the Edge web setup file from this page of Edge website and then run the same to get the new Edge on your PC. The new Edge can be installed and run alongside the built-in Edge browser.
For the uninitiated, Microsoft will replace the built-in Edge browser in Windows 10 with the new Chromium-based Edge browser. Because the new Edge browser is based on the Chromium, it looks and behaves a lot like the popular Google Chrome browser. The new Edge supports all themes and extensions out there for Chrome. That said, Microsoft has replaced or removed many features of Chromium in its new Edge.
Besides that, Microsoft plans to release the new Edge to Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 as well. A version will also be there for macOS as well.
