Unihertz Titan is a BlackBerry Passport clone with Android, huge battery

We haven’t seen many Android phones with a physical keypad in recent months, with the likes of the Fxtec Pro 1 and BlackBerry Key2 series being the only major entries really. Fortunately, small mobile player Unihertz has taken inspiration from BlackBerry with the Unihertz Titan.

The new phone, spotted by Crackberry, looks like a rugged BlackBerry Passport running Android. That means a square 4.5-inch LCD screen (1,440 x 1,440) and a physical keypad. The keypad also offers physical navkeys as well as a space between them for what looks like a front-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Passport trappings extend to promotional materials too, with Crackberry noting that a now-removed screenshot showed the BlackBerry 10 version of the BlackBerry Hub on the device.

Other disclosed specs include wireless charging, IP67 water/dust resistance, dual-SIM support, face unlock, NFC, and what looks like a solitary rear camera. But arguably the best feature might be its battery life, offering a 6,000mAh battery that should easily give you two days of juice in theory.

The Unihertz Titan was originally available at a super early bird price of $199, requiring a $10 deposit. As of writing, the price has increased to $219 with a $15 deposit. That seems pretty cheap for a device with a 6,000mAh battery and a physical keypad. 

There are still plenty of questions surrounding the Titan though, such as the choice of chipset, RAM/storage options, and camera details.
