Understanding MySQL With MySQL Functions and History (Complete)

One of the most highlighted things in the world computer currently is database management. But before discussing more about database management tools you should understand what is meant by the database, and how important for human survival in the modern era today.

A database is a collection of data – data that is neatly packed and structured in a computer as well can be processed using a special tools or software to obtain information. The need for information is what makes the database management becomes very important.

One of the tools managing the database is to use MySQL. For people who are involved in the IT world or Informatics may not feel alien to this. But unlike the case with ordinary people who may be more familiar with Microsoft Access in terms of database management. In this article we will review more thoroughly about tools called MySQL this. Immediately you can listen to a review of the understanding of MySQL below:

Understanding MySQL

 understanding of MySQL

Before discussing MySQL you must first understand about SQL or commonly called Structured Query Language. From the name is clear enough that basically MySQL or SQL is a tool that uses a special language. This is why only people – people who are involved in the world of IT is quite familiar with this tool.

The term SQL can be interpreted as a language used to access a data in a relational and structured database while MySQL in this case into software or tools to manage or manage SQL by using a Query or a special Language. Basically the database managed in MySQL is not much different from Microsoft Access is a form of tables – tables that contain certain information. The difference lies in the use and management of such databases.

This MySQL belongs to an open source and licensed GPL or General Public License software. This GPL license is only aimed at certain software for the purposes of the GNU project, this is the factor of the number of MySQL users worldwide. In addition to easy to use, you can manage data more effectively because it uses a script or a specific language and will automatically become a command to the system.

MySQL History

 MySQL history

As a database management software of course this MySQL established by a special institution or company. The company is Oracle which is one of the largest software company in the world. At first a Swedish computer programmer named Michael "Monty" Widenius developed a simple database system called UNIREG. At first this tool uses a low level database engine with indexing. Michael "Monty" Widenius also worked for a company in Sweden called TcX

And in 1994 TcX began to take an interest in this Monty project and plans to make UNIREG a database system for their web project. Unfortunately UNIREG is considered not very suitable for a dynamic database such as web so in the end TcX look for another alternative that is mSQL (mini SQL) developed by David Hughes. But again – again found the problem itself in mSQL that is because the system used does not support the indexing so it is considered not good

And finally the cooperation between Michael "Monty" Widenius, David Hughes and Tcx to develop the database system furthermore, and in 1995 released a new database management tool called MySQL. This is the forerunner to the development of MySQL as one of the best database managers. Because it is open source then some companies have developed MySQL until finally at this time directly managed by a company called Oracle.

MySQL function

 MySQL function

Previously had time to discuss that MySQL outline to create and manage a database in a structured and automated manner using a special Language. But more clearly again this MySQL provides convenience for users who want to manage a data that contains information in a String (text based) and can be accessed privately and publicly in a web. Almost all hosts or web server providers provide MySQL facilities for web developers who want database management on their website

In the website interface or face-to-face form for MySQL is often called phpMyAdmin. This is one of the factors of the relationship between the PHP language with MySQL, especially in terms of web management. Some examples of the application of MySQL can also be found on E-Commerce, Blog site or a CMS (WordPress, Joomla, and others).

The ability of MySQL

As a database manager of the largest and most widely used of course MySQL has certain features or capabilities. One of the most sought after by MySQL users is its multi-platform and licensed GPL capability, so it can be used by computers almost on all OSes. Its performance is also considered to be quite high in terms of processing existing queries even though it is still limited to a certain number of databases.

Some other features available on MySQL currently have very diverse data types such as Float, Double, Char, Date and others – another. MySQL also supports the use of the field as an index and has a pretty good level of security with the Subnetmask, Hostname and encrypted password.

With the explanation of understanding MySQL above, it is expected for you to better understand about the function and history of the formation of this software . The main function of MySQL is to manage SQL databases, such as adding or deleting tables in an SQL database.
