OnePlus 7T Pro vs OnePlus 7T, 7 Pro, and 7: Display

The OnePlus 7 has the smallest screen size of the lot, and it also misses out on OnePlus’ new 90Hz refresh rate commitment. The OnePlus 7 has a 6.41-inch FHD+ Optic AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. It has a teardrop notch upfront. By comparison, the OnePlus 7 Pro has 6.67-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It replaces the notch with a pop-up camera mechanism.

The OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro continue the 90Hz Fluid display philosophy. The 7T has a 6.55-inch FHD+ 90Hz AMOLED display with a teardrop notch, while the OnePlus 7T Pro has 6.67-inch FHD+ 90Hz AMOLED display with a pop-up camera.

In terms of screen resolution, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro share a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels. The OnePlus 7 sports a display resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels, while the OnePlus 7T ups it a bit to 2,400 x 1,080 pixels.

Processor, RAM, and storage

Powering the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core chipset. In comparison, the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro get a slightly upgraded Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. The only points of difference between the 855 and 855 Plus are a faster CPU and GPU clock speeds. You get around a 5% boost in CPU performance on the Snapdragon 855, while the GPU performance is increased by almost 15%.

The OnePlus 7 is available in 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM variants. The OnePlus 7 Pro adds a third 12GB LPDDR4X variant to the mix. The next refresh, OnePlus 7T, skips the 6GB RAM variant and goes straight to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. The latest OnePlus 7T Pro ups the ante to 12GB RAM on its McLaren Edition, while the regular OnePlus 7T Pro gets a single 8GB RAM variant.

All the 2019 OnePlus phones sport Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 3.0. This is the latest storage standard and is twice as fast (in read/write speeds) as UFS 2.1.

You get two storage options on the OnePlus 7, Oneplus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T — 128GB and 256GB. On the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, the lowest 128GB storage option is paired with the lowest 6GB RAM variant.

The OnePlus 7T Pro and its McLaren Edition both offer a single 256GB storage option.

Cameras

All the OnePlus phones from 2019 have the same front camera. The OnePlus 7 and 7T place these cameras in a notch, while the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro place them on a pop-up mechanism. The selfie camera on all phones is set at 16MP with f/2.0 aperture. In our review of the OnePlus 7 Pro camera, we noted that it makes for sharp images and good color reproduction.

The rear camera is where the OnePlus phones differ the most. On the OnePlus 7, the device has a dual 48MP (main Sony IMX586 sensor) + 5MP (depth sensor) setup. In contrast, the OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro all come with triple rear cameras.

OnePlus 7 Pro sports the same Sony IMX586 48MP standard lens, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 16MP ultra-wide lens.

OnePlus 7T upgrades the camera setup and gets a 48MP standard lens, a 12MP telephoto lens, and a 16MP ultra-wide lens. It also gets a circular camera housing at the back — the only OnePlus phone in the 2019 series to do so.

The most premium OnePlus 7T Pro gets the same camera make as the 7T — 48MP + 12MP + 16MP.

Battery

OnePlus 7T Pro charging warp charge

The battery capacity on all 2019 OnePlus phones is different. The OnePlus 7 gets the smallest 3,700mAh battery with fast charging. In comparison, the OnePlus 7 Pro gets a 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging.

OnePlus 7T gets a 3,800mAh battery, while the OnePlus OnePlus 7T Pro gets a 4,085mAh battery. Both support Warp Charge 30T fast charging.

OnePlus claims the new fast charging tech charges the device 23% faster than Warp Charge 30 on the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. However, we found it charged about 12% faster in our own testing.

Connectivity, IP rating, and biometrics

In terms of connectivity, all OnePlus 2019 phones get USB-C ports. All of them have dual nano-SIM slots with dual standby. They all have Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot, and NFC.

None of the 2019 OnePlus phones have IP ratings for water and dust resistance. OnePlus says getting the IP rating would have made the phones more expensive. However, the company does say they are water resistant to an extent.

All OnePlus 2019 phones have an in-display fingerprint sensor, too.

Software

The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro come with Android 9 out of the box, although both can be upgraded to Android 10. The OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro run Android 10 out-of-the-box.

Colors

The OnePlus 7 is available in Mirror Gray and Red colorways. OnePlus 7 Pro mixes up things with Mirror Gray, Almond, and Nebula Blue colorways.

The OnePlus 7T has Frosted Silver and Glacier Blue looks, while the OnePlus 7T Pro chooses a single Haze Blue option. The OnePlus 7 T Pro McLaren Edition comes with McLaren’s papaya orange accents and a design inspired by super cars.
