Change power button actions in Windows 10
Here is how to change power button settings in Windows 10.
Step 1: Open the Power Options window. To open it, right-click on the battery icon on the taskbar and then click Power Options. Alternatively, open the Control Panel, change the View by to Small icons, and then click Power Options to open the same.
Step 2: In the left-pane of the Power Options window, click Choose what the power buttons do link to open System Settings link.
Step 3: In the Power and sleep buttons and lid settings section, you can choose what happens when you press the power button. In the drop-down boxes next to When I press the power button, select either Shut down, Hibernate, Sleep, Turn off the display or Do nothing option.
If you are on a laptop, we recommend you to you to set the power button to turn off the display as turning off the display on a laptop is not very straight-forward in Windows.
By setting the power button to turn off the screen, you can turn off the display by pressing the power button for two or three seconds. Likewise, when you are configuring the power button action, you can also configure what happens when you close the laptop lid (screen).
Click Save changes button.
