Thanks to technological developments the more sophisticated, painting no longer has to be on paper. Armed with a laptop, PC or tablet, anyone can paint without having to use paper. Of course you must have the right software to be able to do it, for example like Microsoft Paint or Adobe Photoshop.
If Microsoft Paint is too simple and Adobe Photoshop is too complicated, maybe MyPaint is the software you are looking for. MyPaint was developed by Martin Renold, which originated from his experience in painting with Wacom tablets.
The software he used to paint at that time had considerable deficiencies. Renold then tried to fix these deficiencies by creating MyPaint. In its development, many people gave Renold input so that MyPaint became popular.
Features and Benefits of MyPaint
Every version of MyPaint was released on Github along with the source code of the software. The most recent at this time is MyPaint version 2 alpha 12 with a file size of no more than 100 MB. As for the stable release, MyPaint is still at version 1.2. There is also a beta release of MyPaint version 1.2.2 beta 0.
You can paint images in any form using the freehand tool. Images that have been created with this tool cannot be changed but can be undone by using the Undo feature. How to cancel it is by pressing the Undo button or by using the shortcut Ctrl + Z.
Meanwhile, the object that you created with the inking tool can be changed by utilizing the points that spread along the object. For example, you make a straight line. By pulling points on the body of the line, you can make the straight lines become curved.
Some other painting tools that you can use are Line and Curve to draw straight lines and curves, Connected Lines with each end eventually became the starting point for creating new lines, and Ellipses and Circles for making ellipses and circles.
MyPaint provided an auto backup feature. If MyPaint suddenly closes by itself because of a crash or other problem, MyPaint will display a recovery window when you run it again. The recovery window contains the files that were successfully backed up. In this case there are three actions that the user can choose. Namely, choose the backup and press the Recover and Save button, delete the backup, or ignore the backup and start painting from scratch.
